New Year’s Day: Cardoon

Woke up just before 8 this morning, it was very chilly outside when I was refilling the bird feeders with sunflower seeds, about 5°C - warmed up to 8°C later this afternoon - rain arrived at 3pm and it’s still raining, possibly for the next few days :-(

MrD made himself a packed lunch and went off into the mountains on his motorbike, he was back home a few hour later complaining that it was very cold in the mountains, snow on the tops of the hills … brrrrrr :-((

The forecast, now that we are in January, is for very cold weather - I have a few shallots which are growing well, lifted a couple of clumps and cleaned them up, now ready in the fridge for MrD to use in his sandwiches.

Whilst I was in that part of the garden I noticed how beautiful the cardoon leaves are looking - they suffered badly in last Summer’s blistering heat, I might have to protect them from the extreme cold promised for here …

Love and hugs to all my family XXXX XXX XX

Nos da pawb / goodnight all xx
