Sand Hill Cranes on Sauvie Island
Spent a beautiful morning on Sauvie Island where we saw so many big birds: cranes, eagles, swans. Walked along the shore of the Columbia that was clear and still. When a ship (later ID'd as a cable layer) sailed up river, it left a long, gentle wake that lapped at the shoreline in lovely repeating curls.
Later, we sat in a cold cafe on Alberta St. waiting for bowls of steaming ramen that warmed us right up.
