The Amazing Zhoogra Gakgak
To most of us, this is a common mallard, but not to the Traguri people. To them this bird is a sacred creature, and Zhoogra Gakgak translates into something like "Summer Solstice Magic Harvest Flapper".
The Traguri have an old saying:
"Raginja altimpo ra Zhoogra Gakgak frakispu haeera arizno vetra, asudipal boli goli"
Freely translated from Tragurinese:
"If on midsummer day, the Zhoogra Gakgak (mallard) dips the toe in the pool, the harvest is going to be cool"
Looks promising this year!
