Happy New Deer

Sorry about the Pun - couldn't resist!

We took a New Year walk around the village of Dacre, past Dalemain House and along the river (wet)! to Pooley Bridge before making our way back to Dacre - extremely boggy, but very quiet, unlike the rest of the Lakes. Very wet and muddy boots by the time we got back to the car.

In the ground of Dalemain House they have herds of deer - usually far away from the gate. Today they were right next to the Lake - so close I couldn't even get them in with a 24mm lens, I had to wait until they backed away a little, to get this rather charming portrait. He seems to have had a bit of an injury on his forehead - but nothing too serious.
