Ventilation means Health !

Excuse the poor quality of my blip today
I wanted to share this wonderful plaque which was situated in each of the Gannochy houses, the housing estate, A K Bell (he was a philanthropist) of Bell’s Whisky company of Perth,Scotland built.
He cared deeply about healthy, affordable homes, the homes started to be built in 1923 for the working people of Perth

The plaque reads …..
Ventilation means Health

No house is healthy unless ventilated.
No room is ventilated unless the window is open.
The top sash window of a bedroom window should always be open - even in winter
Better spend money on extra bedclothes than the top sash closed and the money going to the doctor
The fresher the bedroom the fresher you rise.

This is was about 20 years before the NHS was formed!
The windows opened from the top to pull down and from the bottom to push up in those days ( some still do open like this) this was before double glazing!

My school friend’s grandparents lived in one of these house, it was always so wonderful to visit, they had large gardens too!

It’s been a very grey, misty, mizzly dreich day! Heavy rain at times, no weather warnings as there are in place down south,
Hope it’s not too bad for those on the area
A day of taking tree and decs down , and housework! And a cuppa with said school pal!
Despite the weather a good day for me!
