sleeping dogs

We spent a lovely evening yesterday catching up with Dan and Varnika.  Before supper she treated us to a piano recital - the theme from La La Land.  Beautifully played. 

We talked about New Year’s Eve and Anniemay dropped into the conversation the one thing that was missing; Auld Lang Syne.  Varnika had never heard of it so we expanded her education courtesy of youtube.

We played Anniemay’s favourite version and mine; her’s is by Eddie Reader, mine is a simple acoustic version by Paulo Nuntini, accompanied by Phil Cunningham, filmed in a pub in Edinburgh.   

It was an unexpectedly emotional moment as we all took hands together.  

Dan was up early this morning and came back with some fresh bread baked by Elvis and coffee from one of his friends’ coffee shop.  We’re being spoilt.

After all the lazing around the pool yesterday morning, we decide to take things easy today.
