Just a small selection of a bookcase full of walking guides.

A combination of age and winter weather means I can not stride joyously to another summit today.

But a happy hour can be spent in a comfy chair reliving past pleasures.

Wainwright’s seven volume guide to walking the Lake District Fells are all annotated with the dates on which Mrs. K and I climbed them and the routes we took are traced with a magic marker.

Good memories. Perhaps my only regret is that at the time we walked these there were no pocket digital cameras. But Wainwrighr’s pen and ink drawings are a good substitute.
