Dear Green Place 15 - Tollcross Park
A long drive back up from Yorkshire and a quick detour off the M74 for a park blip!
I am a little bit early in the year to see the Rose Garden at its best. There were a few varieties in bloom but I think this must be a great sight (and smell!) later in the summer. The whole of the south facing slope is covered in rose beds that together make up the shape of a giant stylised Charles Rennie Mackintosh type rose.
The Rose Garden is a site for international rose trials. Rose growers and breeders from all over the world submit new varieties which are then grown here for assessment by a panel of international rose experts.
I have de-saturated this slightly (something new for me) as I liked the way it brought out the texture of the folded petals. (I forgot to check their rose map before I left to find out what variety of rose this was...!)
