Solsticial Sun

I don't even know if that's a word! It seemed right for today though. The 'small' spot to the left of the Sun, AR1777, has been very active whilst on the far side, and in the early hours of this morning fired off a flare that was photographed by NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory.
