Wild border
Stuck at 9pm with nothing in the camera, and with the garden soaked by yet more unforecast rain (it has drizzled all day) I didn't go further than the terrace. So here's the pink gaura through the lavender. The gaura, a tiny pot last spring, is now a huge clump which has been flowering for a month or so. If last year is anything to go by it will continue (with a break in August) until October or so. The lavender, a series of tiny potfuls last spring, was supposed to mature eventually into a low hedge at the front of the border. Instead, it is an unruly wilderness, with each plant about a metre wide and nearly that high. Given the border is only just over a metre, this means anything that can't stand up for itself is being squeezed out. Something will have to be done...
Obviously me wittering on about gardens means not much occurred today. A few trips to the tip, some helping Mr B with computer stuff, some baking, some complaining about my sore thumb (I grated it a few days ago) and then adding to the pain with a burnt thumb (oven gloves should definitely not be allowed to develop holes), and some tending to the fish.
Ah yes, the fish. I've been remiss in not keeping you updated. They are (drum roll) still alive. They are, however, disappearing from view behind a layer of sludge, but I have taken advice from a fishy friend and will be attacking that tomorrow. As well as the garden. Since I am assured that summer will return tomorrow...
