Affordable luxury
I like reading old blips and noting blocks of weather, such as a run of bright blue days or a period of grey, overcast conditions. Much of East Africa is currently experiencing heavy rain and flash flooding is common. The greyness is hanging over everything like a wet cloth.
I am staying with two colleagues at a hotel marketing itself as ‘affordable luxury’. If not having hot water fits into this definition, then I won’t mention the false advertising. The wet and damp conditions have left me with a craving for a warm shower followed by some dry clothes. The hotel’s grand flagpoles may be standing strong out front, but the hot water scenario is not enactable in the affordable luxury.
