Happy birds

It poured all last night adding to the already sodden ground.  We are fortunate that we do not live close to the river or flowing water but it's distressing to hear all the stories of people being flooded out of their homes.  We've standing water out in the orchard but the brook up the road  is coping really well with all the water from the fields.

Our gas boiler went on the blink yesterday evening and the engineer can't come until Monday.  Fortunately we have a couple of halogen heaters and gas fire in the lounge, plus an immersion heater.  Luckily it kicked in first thing this morning so we got up to warmth but it went off again at lunchtime.

I had a wander up the road to look at the waterfall out of the pond and could hear it from a couple of hundred yards away.  The pond is a lovely shade of brown.

The sparrowhawk has been in and I just spotted it chasing a bird over the fence, so hope it got away.
