After the Flood

You read about the floods in Hackney Wick a couple of days ago. Three of us went to survey the damage. It seems to have been caused by water in the canal backing up against a closed lock gate. 

Now there is little evidence of the incident which caused a lot of people to have to leave their homes. We went in to the local cafe for refreshments and they have done an amazing clean up job. One of the owners showed us the level the water came up to. As you can see it was almost waist height.

Even the bookshelf was back in place. He said that on Thursday night Ben Fogle was floating around. The book - not the man himself.

Well done to them for a magnificent and cheerful achievement.
