Before the disaster…
…I made apple crumble. (I had lots of lovely apples left from Christmas). The picture is from before it was cooked. Not my usual recipe. No oats. (This was where it went to pot). The bowl of funny coloured stuff is custard. I wanted to save some for a little trifle, so I used my Mum’s old trick of sprinkling sugar on the top to prevent skin forming. (Rice pudding skin good. Custard skin bad. Very bad. Maybe just me?).
Anyway. Something (the wholewheat flour?) was very off and when cooked it was binned. What a waste.
Himself, meantime, was busy fixing a light into a bookshelf of mine. A job he’d been working up to for a while. He’s got lots of ‘little jobs’ on the anvil. He did a grand job and I’m thrilled, but I had to laugh at his dismay when he took out his ‘job list’ to tick off, with satisfaction, his handiwork. This particular job wasn’t even on his list!
Trifle anyone?
