Icy

There was a very heavy overnight frost, and the sun was out when I walked Django, so it was pretty in the Estate. Livresse and nadinepierce both commented on hair ice yesterday, and there was a lot of it to see in the shady parts of the Estate - see extra. It exists because a fungus (identified only in the past ten years) produces an antifreeze that affects recrystallization when frost is formed. We walked out to the Ramsey Obelisk and, when we returned to the Old House, Penicuik New House was looking great in the sunlight beyond the frosted grass.

In the rest of the day, I watched a bit of football, started catching up with my diary and, after shopping for groceries with A, had a clear-out of my clothes.
