Tunnel View

Guanajuato is famous, among other things, for its tunnels under the historic part of the city. These old tunnels, many dug during Colonial times, were originally used to control flooding, but with the advent of dams they have been pressed into service as car thoroughfares, a very different subway. I have been itching to get photos in the tunnels, climbing down any available staircase as we walk the town. Today, on our cab ride back from León, I got my chance. Hand-held, out the window as we were stuck in traffic. I will continue to drop down stairs as we explore this city looking for even better views of this unique transportation system.
