The Irish Theoretical Physics meeting is taking place this week in Maynooth. I call it that, but it's been rather difficult keeping track of the name. It stems from a previous meeting called Irish Quantum Foundations. The name changed last year to Irish Theoretical Physics to broaden the scope of the meeting, but that has been met with resistance by members of other institutes who'd rather keep a reference to the Quantum Field Theory origins of the meeting (and didn't even show up to the conference), so to cover all bases I'm sticking with the acronym in the title.

Anyway. We decided to take a trip to the old Russel Library on the south campus to view some older texts such as a 1726 edition of Newton's Principia.

Extra is from the public lecture featuring Max Planck Institute director Roderich Moessner and our very own Peter Coles. Peter has a caption competition running on his blog for the extra, which I strongly recommend you all to check out.
