Soaking Wet
The rain continues.... lots of it too. Wetter than a wet thing.
I'm catching up on blips as my internet went out yesterday afternoon, and after a bit of fiddling with the satellite modem, wireless routers etc, its now going. Yay, civilisation!
As you can see, some of our number got wetter than others. Jack here went AWOL for 5 hours in our lovely bit of Banks Peninsula hill country. With a raging river and torrential rain, I was very concerned for his wellbeing, especially as his wanderlust usually sees him crossing the river and heading up the slopes opposite the house, which just happens to be the base of the highest peak in Banks Peninsula. When he breaks out and heads for the hills, I get worried. But on one of the coldest wettest days of the year? So much for the intelligence of collies, particularly when Zoey is parked up in front of a roaring fire. She's that close to the fire she's almost smouldering.
As I write this on Saturday afternoon, Mrs Horomaka has just returned from feeding the chooks and stock with reports of another 150mm of rain in the gauge. This brings our weekly total to a whopping 320mm, or nearly 13 inches in old money.
Now that's some serious rain. I'm just glad we're up the top end of the valley, rather than on the flats...
