Pipe dream

Another Sunday and the end of the first week of the New Year. Nothing much has changed so far. Still fighting in Ukraine, still fighting in Gaza and Arsenal still can't score a goal, unless it's in their own net. Watched them on TV play Liverpool in their FA cup match. I have to say I was very impressed with the referee's performance – which is hardly ever said these days. Any time a player rolled around after a tackle looking for a foul he waved play on and the players soon got the message. It made for a more flowing game once Liverpool eventually got out of their half. And I don't remember VAR making any contribution to the game at all.

That's definitely not something that can be said these days...
