Moonrise Over The Catalinas
~A View At Sunset~
Image of an almost full moon rising at sunset. Tomorrow night will be the true full moon, and what is also called the 'SuperMoon'. Tomorrow nights moon is technically named the "Perigee-syzygy of the Earth-Moon-Sun System."
The average distance of the moon from the Earth is 238,000 miles. Tomorrow it will be just 221,824 miles away -- or 16,176 miles closer than usual. That will make it appear 14% larger than the average full moon. So look to the sky this weekend to see the biggest, fullest and brightest moon of 2013.
Have a good weekend my friends, TucsonJim ;o)
