The People's Supermarket

This is such a great idea. Rather than giving all their hard-earned cash to uncaring Tesco's in exchange for boring, generic supermarket-mush, a bunch of entrepreneurial Oxford folk (well probably a bunch of idealistic hippies, but who cares?) got together and formed a cooperative.

And so The People's Supermarket on Cowley Road was born. It stocks good range of locally produced, organic, fairly traided, veggie, allround good stuff. And if they don't have it, just ask and they'll try to get it. What's more, anyone can shop here - though if you volunteer for a few hours you get a healthy discount.

And look who I found helping to sort the veggies on the Friday late shift...!
