Full Frontal

Went on a bit of a bug crusade in my front yard after stalking the bulbuls lead me nowhere. A really cool new little bug that I've never seen before that was so tiny but so colourful! And a few new butterflies too.

Unfortunately I couldn't get any closer to this one in this position. He/she flew off after I snapped this and refused land facing me each time there after. I like that I could see the proboscis quite well in this shot. Not the clearest but I'm happy with it and that's all that really matters, isn't it? Sadly for me this position doesn't really help with identifying it though! So for those in the know... here is a more appropriate angle for ID :) And I'm wondering if this one is the same species just a colour morph? AND.... for the grasshopper lovers here is my first hopper!

Currently listening to some thunder rolling in - I think a storm might be about to hit, possibly thwarting my attempts for a late afternoon run... my bungalow actually just shook with the last one and I'm waiting for Vang to make an appearance (thunder phobic) .... but at least it might bring a brief reprieve to the stifling humidity at the moment!
