Just Grapes

I remember eating black grapes which looked inviting but had to be bitten in half to extract the pips, had hard and sometimes bitter skins and often lacked intensity of flavour. Now it is possible to buy varieties grown in South America which are seedless, sweet and full of flavour. The intensity of flavour of some of the varieties originatiing in countries like Brazil and Peru is outstanding, and more so if they are chilled. These were the last of the bunch. They were very ripe and beginning to fall of the stems. I attempted (unsuccessfully) a still-life with cheese, grapes celery and tomatoes. Building on my failure I found this old frame and a black background giving centre stage to the remaining grapes before they were consumed.
