Portobello Beach Edinburgh Day 297

Here comes trouble. These two little puppies were on the beach with their owner early this morning. They were very inquisitive and chose me to be their new best friend ever! They jumped, with difficulty, onto the groyne to give a dead crab a going over and then, like circus dogs, pirouetted towards the groyne end. Unlike circus dogs they lost their nerve and began to wimper with anxiety at having exceeded their natural perameters. They then recovered their nerve and tumbled off onto the wet sand and, surprisingly for such young dogs, scampered back up the beach on their master's call.

Last night was a wonderful evening on the beach. Unusually a sailing boat had anchored for the night just off the beach in front of Bath Street. Three bonfires were lit at dusk as Porty's response to the summer solstice. The largest of these was more like a beacon than a beach fire and clearly someone had reported it to the authorities because two police people turned up within seconds of it being lit and within two minutes two brown suited dayglow helmeted firefighters arrived. "Twas nae me" was the response of the bonfire lighting adult who was given a ticket, not a fine, to prove that the brigade had arrived. They left with an audit trail to prove that they had responded and had checked there were responsible adults in charge and there was no - well almost no, alchohol involved!

On the shoreline a beautifully dressed giggle of school leaving, summer solstice celebrating sirens leapt in the foam in gay abandon at school being over for ever. One of their father's was putting them through a rigorous photo shoot. When they left the surf they perched on the groynes as Tiggycaptured last night.
