Geese
Today's the day ............................ for a fly-past
Battalions of (probably) Pink-footed geese flying over our house this morning on their way inland from the Solway Firth.
For some reason they seem to be working to a slightly different timetable this winter - and it's been quite difficult to catch them in action. You always used to see them in the sky at first light - and then they would return around four o'clock-ish in the afternoon. Now, it all seems to have shifted by a few hours so that it is often completely dark before you hear those unmistakable clarion calls, signalling a fly-past.
Whatever time it happens though, it is always a sight and sound that fills your heart with joy ....................
