Beinn Eighe - Triple Buttress
Got up expecting it to be absolutely lashing as per the forecast.... bit misty on the tops, cloud didn't look solid so June and I set of from the hut and wandered round to the back corrie of Beinn Eighe. The great path meant we got to the waterfalls in good time. From there the option was 1.5 km up the glen to the corrie head wall then walk 1.5 km back to the summit of Ruadh Stac Mhor.... bawz to that... we went ballistic up a bloody steep slope. Was bit fraught at times with a lot of loose boulders but with a bit of sweat we were quickly on the top. A couple of sandwiches then stride down the ridge for a closer look at the magnificent Triple Buttress. A wee look back and June was finally convinced of the previous plan. We then strodee out for the second Munro. By this time we could see that Kinlochewe and the Loch Maree area just a ffew miles away were getting soaked, luckily it didn't come our way.
We then doubled back along the ridge a bit before dropping down of the hill to get back onto the path and back to the Ling Hut car park; missed out what looked like a tortuous 2 mile walk on tarmac.
Quick march to the hut then chicken curry, apple pie, red wine and a few tins of Belhaven. A fine day out and my face was rid with the sun..... no' bad for a day that was meant to be pissin' down all day.
