Thorncombe Beacon, showing the results of landslips: we saw this from the top of Golden Cap, the highest point on the coast of Dorset, apparently. Beyond Thorncombe Beacon the gap in the cliffs is West Bay, with the pier just visible if you view the photo full screen.
It was a gorgeous day, and the biting northerly wind could do nothing to spoil the feeling of wellbeing as we climbed the steep path to Golden Cap. Every time we do that I remember my late father-in-law, a Dorset native who loved this coast and who visited many times in his later years.
In the Extra, in the other direction a view across Lyme Bay to Lyme Regis, with Devon's coast receding westward.
