The difference between Britain and America is

Early British industrialists really made the modern world.
Then they lost it by wanting to emulate the landed gentry - even though the landed gentry still looked down on them, despite their newfound wealth.
The class system in Britain is nuts.
In America, captains of industry built on success and encouraged the upcoming generation to follow in their footsteps.
They don’t have a class system.
