Sally Mair - Loving life

There and back again

An early start today, Ali and Bonnie arrived at 8.15. We were heading up, along with Katy, to Banchory to visit Bonnie's Great-Nana who is 101 years older than Bonnie. Bonnie is two weeks old tomorrow so it was a big undertaking for them.
We set off in mixed weather before 10, it was calm and still but raining off and on on the way up. This blip is just beyond Forfar on the A90. The colours were quite striking, and the line of cloud very impressive.
We stopped just north of Brechin for brunch and arrived in Banchory just after 1pm. Mum was delighted to meet her 4th great granddaughter and chatted away to her, singing her some songs too.
We set off south again at around 2. 30, it was a lovely drive with stunning skies, the extra doesn't really do justice, but I could only take pictures when I wasn't driving. Driving was challenging at times with the sun dazzlingly bright and low in the sky The silhouettes against the setting sun to the west were quite beautiful. We stopped twice in the way south, at Brechin Castle garden centre cafe and again briefly at Kinross services.
We were home again just after 6. Josie was very happy to see her mummy and baby sister again
It was a long drive there and back, but worth it to see m-in-l and to introduce the newest member of the family. My girls were pleased to see their Nana again too after almost a year. It's hard for them to meet up, with all their commitments so we were glad today worked.
