Lunch bunch...
What a lovely day.
This morning was spent getting the final tasks done before Alan, Gail, Ele and Kenny came for afternoon tea.
The silly goings on from the other day continued when the boiling water tap stopped working. Not great when you're about to host an afternoon tea. D popped out to the Ironmongers to buy a kettle but it was closed as they've taken two weeks off! Quick text to Ele to ask her to bring her kettle! lol
Every one arrived at 1.00pm and we settled ourselves in the living room which was very cosy as David had lit the fire. Having grown up with a real fire It always makes me slightly nostalgic to see those lovely flames.
This will be our last get together with Alan and Gail for a while as they head off to New Zealand for 6 weeks on 28th January. That means two of D's golfing buddies will be down under.
We had a really lovely afternoon and Gail was very excited to see I'd made Empire Biscuits. Kenny was delighted there were cocktail sausage rolls from the local butcher as they're his favourite.
Savouries consumed, we moved to the living room to have the sweet stuff. Could put everything on the low coffee table without fear of Lola's tail swiping it as she's spending the day (and night) with dog walker R. She was very excited when he took her bed to the car :-)
Alan had been boasting before lunch that he hasn't had any chocolate for over a month and over the whole festive period only ate sweet things on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. We reminded him of this as he ate a scone, four Empire biscuits (well they were dinky :-) a slice of gingerbread and at least 5 squares of chocolate mint cake! He's extremely fit and enjoys various sports but I think I broke him!
Alan and Gail left just before 6pm. Ele and Kenny stayed on for a little bit longer before leaving with a doggy bag of sausage rolls :-)
Spent the rest of the evening with feet up snoozing watching tv. Loving Traitors as much as the first series. Brightens up a dull January.
GP called mid afternoon with the results of my CT scan of my kidneys. Turns out I do have a kidney stone in my right kidney. It's at the base of my kidney so she thinks the pain I experienced was it moving from higher up. She's referring me to Urology and said they may want to repeat the scan with a contrast dye inserted to show up the kidney more clearly before deciding how to proceed. The good news is the scan showed that my liver, lungs, spleen and pancreas are all normal. Phew! :-))
