First and last

The main photo is one of the first I took on my "new" camera,  purchased at the London Camera Exchange (LCE) in Guildford on 30 December 2023. I had gone there with my daughter who wanted to get her Olympus point and shoot checked over but ended up part-exchanging it for a Canon. I had taken my Nikon D90 with me to see if they had a lens cap to fit as I had lost mine years ago. I ended up part-exchanging it for a later Nikon model, the D5500. Both the Canon and the Nikon are used cameras, but certainly look in good shape (the D5500 came out in 2015, 8 years after the D90), and the results so far don't disappoint although I have got a lot of attention to give to all the new features that come with the D5500. The chap in LCE gave me a book entitled NikonD5500 for Dummies which probably says a lot about how he viewed me when I took a first, bemused look at the information screen on the camera. I should say, if this book is intended for "dummies", I hate to think what the advanced version is like!  We took our "new" cameras with us on a walk round the village on Sunday and the fallen tree branch part blocking the pathway to the mill stream grabbed me ,as did the bird boxes on the side of a nearby house wall (see extra). The other extra is of the LCE interior and is the last shot I took with the D90 although I didn't know it at the time - I may have shed a tear over the lens if I had. .
