Two was company..
Went to the Mackay Country ceilidh last night. Some lovely singing, and poetry in the first session, and after the break, a great band from Skye. I say band, one was playing a bazouki, with the other on fiddle, accompanied by a third playing backing tracks from a computer. It was a recording of the rest of the band, but with transport costs, only the three came. Sort of Scottish dance mixed with techno trance dance music. Liked it so much, I bought the CD, and am listening to it now, dancing as I type!! Called Sketch, it's a mix of Cappercaille meets Peatbog Faeries..
When I first let the hens out, two of the new ones were both laying in the same nest box. I thought "that's friendly" and would make a good blip, but by the time I came back with my camera one had moved on. About half the new girls are laying now, but only small eggs..
Grey and damp to start to start, but brightening up mid afternoon, just before a good storm. Another one since resulting in 6 mm of rain. Been in the shed raking out mortar ready for re-pointing..
Some sad news, Gary Pickford-Hopkins, a singer and musician from Swansea passed away today after a battle with cancer. Probably his best known performance with Rick Wakeman on the Journey to the centre of the earth LP. He also sang on Elkie Brook's Shooting Start album, as well as being in Ancient Grease, Eyes of Blue, and a host of bands in the Swansea area. RIP GPH.
music, the singer on the left with the open white shirt..
