Muck!
Took some items down to the village hall for the jumble sale. The room was absolutely crammed with tables full of "stuff", I should think the whole village has been clearing out - I just hope there will be people wanting to buy it all this afternoon!
Went for my daily walk after lunch and had to wait for T and the muck spreader to move out of the way. This is one of the dirtiest chores on the farm but beneficial for the cattle who will have clean bedding, and the fields will be fertilised to encourage the grass to grow in the spring. The aroma hangs about everywhere, in the air, on ones clothes but we are used to it! As Jan Millward says in one of her poems:
"Life on the farm
is not like on the telly,
they don't show the muck,
and you can't tell it's smelly.
They all wear clean clothes
and red checked plaid shirts,
and wellies that never
get to see any dirt."
