As part of the Canary Islands Music Festival, we saw Dúo Cassadó with Ivan Vargas yesterday and this gentleman today.

As we were leaving the auditorium, Anna and I talked of how it was a very moving performance, rather than a concert. It could have been souped up a bit, with some information about his past, some photos. Yesterday’s was a tribute to Lorca, with video and voiceover in between the music.

But in the end it was just him and us. He lost his way a few times but then improvised to skip through from Chopin straight to Gershwin, all with a Cuban rhythm. On leaving, I saw him as we passed the stage door and was so glad to be able to thank him. Sweet moments.
