at Southwell Minster this afternoon.

Epiphanytide Procession (i) & Celebrate Creation (ii)

(i) Incense (see main), a snare drum, an Old Cornish poem with folk influenced tune and a sprinkling of water. A more earthy paganistic influence on this afternoons service with the congregation joining the procession of choristers and clergy into the crossing, then the Quire then back to the Nave. My friend M adorned a decorative gown and carried a crucifix aloft; not seen him participate before. The polyphony was extra special.

(ii) A quarterly service organised by Southwell Minster Environmental Action Group (SMEAG) this evenings small group met in The Chapterhouse (extra). Quiet Taize music with plain English chanting/simple repetitive singing and readings, and meditation; words both liturgical and non-liturgical.  Some of the group played piano, flute, cello and guitar played as accompaniment. We each took a ribbon off the trees mid service for a short mediation  - returned at the end of course to help preserve God's creation.

Two very special events
