Checking it out.
Yesterday I was talking with Kanyl about the need to have cleaned out bird nest boxes before the end of the month. They shouldn't be disturbed after the end of January, the blip shows why, birds have been eying up prospective nest sites since before Christmas. It also means I have to finish work on the hedge for the same reason.
Not a good photo but it serves two purposes for me. The first is a record of the species checking the box, useful to know when we see which species use it to nest. Last year it was Great Tits. The second is it shows me where I have to "prune" to give us a clear view of the goings on later in the season.
