A Happy Day (calm before the storm)

We both got up early to finish preparations for our trip. It felt so good not to be rushed. Hubby packed the SUV; I cleaned the kitchen and baths. It was hard as usual to leave Millie behind. We attended 11:30 Mass and really enjoyed the homily on discipleship. We got to Brooklyn’s game before her tipoff. And what a game it was. We won 54-14 with Brooklyn scoring several points and having a great defensive game. The top left pic shows her moves to prevent a player from getting down the court. From there we headed to Virginia. Our route took us through the part of our county that is predominately farms. We found gas for $2.67/gal after we crossed into Virginia. The Potomac River was full of whitecaps that churned up the bottom turning the water quite muddy. We had a burrito bowl at Chipotle, one of our favorite fast foods. Our route takes us within a few miles of George Washington’s boyhood home. There is just a wealth of history in this part of our country. The Home is on the Rappahannock River which was all calm today. This part of the country is expecting a snowstorm in the early part of the week; hence, they have already coated the roads with a snow melting solution. When we got to Madison County, I was able to get a shot of the BlueRidge mountains, truly a happy place for both of us. Unfortunately, we may have to drive through a snowstorm on the mountains to reach the kids’ house in Tennessee tomorrow. I am definitely not looking forward to that part of the trip. I just checked the latest forecast. They are recommending that folks stay off the road. I guess we will make a decision when we get up tomorrow morning. I brought puzzles just in case we got snowed in. Thanks for dropping by.
