An ordeal

The fire alarms in my building went off this afternoon and they continued for more than 2 hours.  It turned out that a water leak had short circuited the alarm system, so the fire department who came, weren't able to do anything to fix it. Fortunately somebody from management was able to get hold of the alarm company and the racket finally stopped.  I spent the time in my bathroom, the quietest room in the house because there is no actual fire alarm in there, although it's still pretty dreadful.  Poor Sylvie ran under the bed but had to suffer through the noise till the end.

Once the noise had died down, I saw Mount Rainier in the setting sunlight.
