Fitness....What Fitness....?!
Wednesday training nights have expanded in the last few weeks, we are now working out for 90 minutes....just enough time for stretching, warmup and a gentle run....then drills/circuits/skills....leaving enough time to play a friendly match to wrap things up.
It's a good workout and although its David and Shane doing all the running about with the boys while I sit on the sideline having my weekly shout, I still get my little bit of exercise.
This week though, by the time the boys were half way into the run, most of them were puffing and panting, struggling to keep up....the fitness levels they had all reached by the end of the playing season have completely deserted them....!
It was made worse because the weather only held out for about the first 20 minutes....then the heavens opened....at one point the rain, which was coming down in sheets, came at me horizontally.
By the time we were having a friendly against the U12's I was completely saturated....and so were the boys (Megan & Ruby too)....I had to make everyone sit on carrier bags for the journey home....
....whose idea was a 90 minute training session....?!
One thing it really does goes to show however, is the fitness journey the boys went on last season....
....oh well, it looks like we will be starting over come August ;)
