Not a great experience at all transferring through Charles De Gaulle airport in Paris today from GIG (Rio de Janeiro). There we had taken full advantage of the over sixties being given priority and were the first to board after three folk in wheelchairs . . . including ahead of all the business class passengers. The Air France service was very good, the 777-300ER also comfortable - we had paid a little extra for a row of two only up the back in row 55 of 56 rows. A long wait to get off as the police were slow to arrive to do an impromptu passport check in the finger. That in itself created another bottleneck when it got going. Confusing signage led us to get on a shuttle train we did not need and had to reverse tracks. Then, post-Brexit we joined the 300 person long rest of the world queue with only two police officers on duty and lots of folk needing to show extra paperwork to explain the reason for their visit and return-home plans. The complaints rose and eventually three more officers were deployed, albeit it took each one fifteen minutes to start up and log in to their system! And, then, the Terminal 2F catering facilities were shown up as completely inadequate in all of offerings, space and accessibility . . . three meagre ‘nature kitchens’ each down a separate half flight of steps! Maybe Arclight is right!
