Frozen pond

The pond in the garden is frozen. I liked the look of this pebble poking through the ice.  We've had a smattering of snow today, but not much to speak of, and it's barely lain, but it is very cold. I don't know if frogs and newts hibernate over the winter, but I hope ours are surviving if they're in there somewhere! There's more snow forecast overnight and tomorrow, and other parts of the country have certainly had a heavy fall, so perhaps I'll wake up to a winter wonderland in the morning. Having had a few weeks respite from it over the festive season, I'm full of the cold again and feeling fairly rough - the joys of working with young children. When it comes to sharing coughs and sneezes they're always very generous!!
