Witton Country Park .

With spikes on our boots, Freya cosy in her buggy and Bramble donning her cheerful red coat we ambled to the country park . I was struck , as we enjoyed a sunny walk along the river bank , by how many services this area provides for both the human and animal communities that depend on the park . In the far distance Dave can be seen with both baby and dog .To the right a sliver of bench with football pitches almost out of sight .To the left , the tree lined river bank which hosts kingfishers and dippers with crows noisily chasing one another , above my head. There were squirrels running athletically along branches and I know for sure that on the other side of the field there will be deer quietly munching away , minding their own business, in the wooded areas . We passed a community payback group doing some ground work maintenance and it struck me that the existence of parks such as these is a real success story .
It really lifted my spirits having started the day listening to the news on radio 4 !
