Kite festival...with no wind
The people who came for serious kite action were sorely disappointed because it was a calm and sunny day with almost no wind. Perfect temperature (70F/21C). Salt air. Wispy clouds. Flat sea. None of the huge inflatable kites made it, and the extreme kite fliers had to RUN to keep their kites up.
I loved the whole summer's day. At about 5 p.m., after the crowd had thinned, this man brought out his bubble mix and began shaping huge, floppy bubbles, and the adults marveled while the children vied for a chance to pop them.
I'm a little sunburned and very happy tonight, going to bed now and will comment tomorrow. Twenty more pictures, if you are a glutton for failed kite festivals but successful days at the Oregon coast, are here.
