The book I’m currently reading is translated from Japanese. One of the characters describes the effect of her attempt to give advice as ‘It was like water off a duck’s back, or pee on a frog’s face’.

Turns out the literal translation of the original Japanese phrase is ‘pee on a frog’s face’ but the equivalent in English is ‘water off a duck’s back.”

I would much rather be a duck!
