Alkmaar

NY Backblip 6

After breakfast at the hotel, a last walk down to the sea. Then, sadly, time to leave Aldeburgh and head back to West Yorkshire.

But first we stopped off at Snape Maltings for a browse around the shops (hooray, found some of our favourite 'Tawny' marmalade!) and very short stroll by the river Alde, where the Alkmaar is moored. Then onward, around Cambridge and up to Newark, where MrM dropped off a couple of newly repaired instruments. There were a couple of short diversions en route to avoid flooding, and there was extensive flooding around Newark (extra).

Home in time for a late tea of beans on toast - the high living has come to an end! Back to what counts as normality tomorrow...
