Bloomsbury
These various lovely plane trees are all growing in Gordon Square - home for a time to various members of the Bloomsbury Group. The blue plaques I spotted included Lytton Strachey, Duncan Grant, Vanessa Bell, John Maynard Keynes. It’s about 4.15, still fairly light, and I’ve just come up by train from Bristol.
I met my friend A in the cafe in the Curzon Bloomsbury where we had coffee and a good catch up before watching a film made by my friend J about her husband, Matthew Lanyon (son of Peter - one of the famous St Ives artists - but I like Matthew’s work better) The film is lovely I think, it shows how the sea and the landscape of West Cornwall influenced him, and what a creative phenomenon he was. There was a Q and A afterwards, which she managed brilliantly, some people’s questions were so complicated I didn’t even know what they were saying.
