Zoe: "Do you want to do a 25 mile walk to mark the solstice in June?"
Me: "Yes, that sounds fun"
June 21st
Me:"25 MILES? TOMORROW?"
June 22nd
Mile 1: Easy
Mile 2: Foot hurting
Mile 7: Other foot hurting
Mile 9: a lot of rain
Mile 11: lunch stop. Rain.
Mile 12.5: half-way burst of energy.
Mile 15: 10 MILES LEFT?! BUT I'M DYING
Mile 18: lose two group members to a short cut
Mile 20: only 5 miles to go! We can do this!
Mile 20.5 WHAT DO YOU MEAN THE MAP IS WRONG AND IT IS ACTUALLY ANOTHER 6 MILES?
Mile 21: only 5.5 miles to go! We definitely can't do that. Spontaneous crying fits.
Mile 22: cross road, lose 3 group members to a taxi and 2 to a shortcut.
Mile 24: only four of us left. End in sight.
Mile 26: none of us sure that our feet still exist. Probably been worn down to the bone.
Mile 26.59: finish. No energy to celebrate. Never walking anywhere again.
