Ramblings and Mutterings

Mini me

So the Lions Test Series has begun, and what a first test it was! A nail biter that went right to the wire, and let's be honest if Kurtley Beale hadn't slipped the Australians would have won the match. Thankfully though the Lions came through and can wrap the series up next Saturday. Australia may struggle for any dominance up front these days, but what possession they do get their backs can do some serious damage as shown by their tries. They picked up quite a few injuries though, so it will be interesting to see how they go in the second test. The Lions have some work to do; I think Gatland needs to look at the balance of the side, particularly in the back row. And they need to work out how to play the Southern hemisphere refs, because today it was a little bit silly at times, collapsed scrums ok anyone?

I had to listen to the end of the test on the radio, as I was going to see Sherlock Holmes at the New Theatre, Cardiff. It was excellent, the scene changes, the twists and the acting were all top notch. Jason Durr played Sherlock, he of Heartbeat fame, and he was ably supported by the rest of the cast, of which I thought Adrian Lukis as Mycroft Holmes and Tanya Franks as Irene Adler were just brilliant!

The only downside to the day was the six numpties sat in front of me in the theatre, who seemed to have no thought for the cast or their fellow audience members with their antics. If it was swapping seats, it was whispering constantly, going to the toilet whilst the play was on or coming back late into the theatre for the second half. And all this when at the interval I heard them say it was boring......boring?! Are you nuts? Bloody Philistines!

An early night tonight with the British Heart Foundation South Wales Cycle Ride to come tomorrow. Bring it on!

Don't you think this blip of the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama looks like a mini me of the Wales Millennium Centre?
