Translyvanian Ceilidh

That's a couple of words you don't seem together very often.

In our third year of living near Glasgow, we finally made it to our first Celtic Connections event.  A bit of a spur of the moment thing, we could've gont toe see Chris Thile again, but he was more expensive and there weren't any good seats left.

P was at college and we met one of his student pals who had finished the course, and his wife, for some food at the Ottoman coffee house.  They were both lovely and hugely interesting - a retired teacher and Church of Scotland minister had a lot to talk about.  There was much discussion of music and progressive politics. Lovely bit of the evening.

We then ventured to the Community hall for the Ceilidh , described as traditional Roma music with a Ceilidh style caller we weren't sure what to expect.  There was lots of making circles, stamping feet, leg slapping and just general ceilidh fun of messing things up and having a laugh.  The chief dancer telling us what to do was Hungarian and managed to portray the dance well mainly using hand gestures as showing us what to do.  I even got nabbed to do an examples dance!  Lots of fun, great musicians and I'll definitely be back for another one.
