In the morning
It was still terribly cold in London, but maybe just above zero, and the ice started to melt. Wrapped up very warmly, we walked along the New River to Woodberry Wetlands, a former reservoir now a London Wildlife Trust reserve.
In the first one, beyond the grasses you can see Stoke Newington church, city offices, and the Shard in the distance. In the water here are tufted ducks, Pochards and a coot or two. A cold sky with a tiny glimmer of sunshine looking through the trees. And a winter clematis in my friend A’s garden.
I travelled back by train late afternoon, the journey went well.
